Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton

Early in the morning on July 11, 2011, a windstorm hit Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton. It took of large portions of roof leaving gaping holes that allowed wind, rain and debris into sanctuary and sacristy, and causing major damage to other areas of the church’s interior, including the hallways, Pastor’s office and the Sunday Superintendent’s office. Immediately roofers were hired to start putting a temporary roof on to try to stave off further damage until reconstruction could begin. The insurance adjuster came to look over the damage and so began the long process of restoring our beautiful church.
A meeting of the congregation was called to okay reconstruction plans. The sanctuary was the hardest hit with the entire ceiling, all the carpet and pews being replaced. Other wooden pieces including the Altar and communion rails were refinished. Exterior masonry, parts of the stain glass windows and light fixtures were replaced. Services were held in the Parish hall during reconstruction. Through the hard work of the reconstruction company and many volunteers, we were able to have our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service in the sanctuary.
On Sunday February 12th, Trinity will be having a Rededication Service. We thank God for watching over our church and its members during this time. We acknowledge and thank the many members who helped with clean up and other needs and those who worked with the companies who worked on the restoration. We also thank all of you that have sent cards and help to our church. We invite any who happen to be in this area to come and visit us.
