St. John’s Lutheran Church Reinbeck was host to abortion survivor and international speaker, Melissa Ohden, on Sunday January 29th at 2:00 p.m. The afternoon included an opening prayer by Pastor Bruce Boyce, a brief introduction of the main speaker by Holly Jirovsky, member of St. John’s and friend of Melissa. Melissa spoke about the pain she endured when she found out she was not only adopted but also a survivor of an abortion, the healing process she went through to be able to forgive her birth parents and the strong faith that God saved her life for a purpose, to share her story and encourage others to choose life. Over 100 people from various congregations and communities attended the event. Most were emotionally touched by her speech and St. John’s felt honored to have a true “voice for the voiceless” amongst them.
