Reported progress, January 2012

In January progress continued on the Palanga Project and I am able to report that we are still ahead of schedule. During this past month work continued chiefly in the pastors apartment and the second floor of the deaconal center. In the church the gallery section where the organ will be situated has been tiled and finished, and the organ builder is ready to begin initial work.

The major accomplishment is that all interior plastering has now been completed. This work along with the pouring of concrete of the second floor of the deaconal center were especially big projects these last two months and it is a relief to see it all finished.

Finishing work on the walls in the pastors apartment has been completed.

The installment of the hard wall on the ceilings in the second floor is almost done, but mudding has not yet been completed on this.

Much of the electrical work is now done. The wiring is now in place and switches, fixtures, and circuit boxes in the second floor of the deaconal center still need to be installed.

The installation of the heating system on the second floor of the deaconal center began after the floors and the walls were plastered. Radiators were installed and now this area too is heated.

The initial reports from those responsible for insuring that our project meets all code requirements has been positive. They tell us that much of the paper work is in order and they will put in order whatever appears to be incomplete. Because of the welter of regulations this is complicated and time consuming work and I am grateful to Mr. Andy Radetski for recommending that we put this work in competent professional hands.

If the present schedule can be maintained, all project work should be completed by the end of May 2012, and it will be possible for us to dedicate the church and deaconal center the first Saturday in July (July 7, 2012). This plan is of course subject to the availability of President Harrison, President Saunders, President Arp, Pastor Fale, and other donors.

In February finishing work on floors, walls, and ceilings throughout the building will be the major task. In addition the fire alarms and security system are to be installed this month. Wood working in the galleries and stairs and installation of flooring are also scheduled.
