Rev. Bill Eckhardt's Father Turns 101

Celebrating Four Generations of Eckhardts

Wilfred "Eck" Eckhardt celebrated his 101st birthday last week with his son, Pastor Wilfred "Bill" Eckhardt, Jr., retired campus pastor from Iowa City, his grandson Marcus Eckhardt, who is assistant curator at the Hoover Presidential library in West Branch, Iowa and his great grandson, two year old Joel.

Mr. Eckhardt was confirmed in German in Tyrol Township, Minnesota, (rural Boyd Minnesota) in 1919, in the congregation where his father was a charter member and his grandfather was the contractor of the first building at a total cost of $300. Eck was a banker in Storden, Minnesota for many years, and is one of the oldest World War II veterans in Minnesota. He has resided at Mickelson Manor in Windom, since two months after it opened.
