Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton

January is a Busy Month for Trinity Sunday School

January was jammed full of activities for the Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School (Vinton) this year. The Growing in Christ Pin Recognition Program is a new program which Trinity began this last fall. It is based on the Growing in Christ pins available from CPH.

Last September each child who goes to our Sunday School program received materials to make their own banner. They also received their first pin in honor of their baptism. As the children grow in their faith and learn  basic catechismal lessons, learn about Christ’s birth and resurrection and what it means to their lives, and learn to share God with friends and church family and service to the Lord, they are recognized by receiving pins. These pins can be displayed on their banner along with attendance pins, wreaths and bars.

The Christmas pin is given to those children who attended practices and performed in the Children’s Christmas program last December. In addition, the children needed to be able to tell the Christmas story as written in Luke 1:26-2:20 and Matthew 2:1-12.  Special emphasis was on Jesus as the true Son of God who came to earth to save us and that Joseph was his adoptive father.

On January 16th  sixteen children received their Growing In Christ Christmas Pins. The children receiving their pin were Kaylie and Kelcie Appleby, Drew, Abby and Maggie Elwick, Sarah, Jonathan and Sophia Kreutner, Lillie and Carter Lamont, Weston and Eli Powers, Owen Rhinehart, Bryce and Broc Shaw, and Emma Voyles.

On January 20 we had Mid-winter Family Fun day, which included sledding for those wishing to brave the winter weather and games and snacks at the parish hall for those who preferred the warmth.

On January 28 - 29, three Junior High girls headed to camp IO-DIS-E-CA for the Junior High Retreat. They were Amanda Burkey, Kaitlyn Isbell and Sarah Kreutner.
