LUTHERANS FOR LIFE POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Renewal For Life Director

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides leadership and oversight of all aspects of Renewal For Life to the end of
fulfilling its mission to equip Lutheran congregations to be Gospel-motivated voices For
Life. The Renewal For Life Director is directly responsible to the National Director of
Lutherans For Life.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provide leadership for Renewal For Life (RFL).
2. Develops efficient business processes for all aspects of RFL.
3. Oversee the recruitment, training, and equipping of the RFL staff including Regional
Directors and support staff.
4. In cooperation with the Director of Communications, develop and coordinate
publications and media related to RFL. This would include brochures, displays, web
site, presentations, etc.
5. Partner with State Affiliates, Chapters, Life Ministry Coordinators, Life Team Leaders
and Life Teams to work in unity to carry out RFL’s mission.
6. Assist in fundraising projects as well as cultivate donors and prospects whenever
possible.
7. Provide leadership for the Assistant RFL Director in developing reports and other
information from Donor Perfect, Access databases and other data sources. This
information may be provided to the National Director, Board of Directors, Regional
Directors and others.
8. Set forth RFL annual operating plan in order to stay on track with Lutherans For Life
(LFL) Strategic Plan
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
1. Marketing of RFL resources
2. Leads or provides for staff meetings and devotions in the National Director’s
absence.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of
Lutheran doctrine and practice among all Lutheran bodies.
Life issues, including biological, scientific, social, and political dimensions.
Lutherans For Life and its mission and vision.
Skilled in
Project management
Leading, motivating, and mentoring a team of professionals to share the For Life
message in their respective geographic areas
Communicating the vision of RFL to Regional Directors, RFL and LFL staff, Pastors,
and congregational representatives
Able to
Implement the RFL portion of the LFL strategic plan and annual operation plan
Work with the many people resources of LFL, both staff and volunteers, so as to
foster serving together toward the common goal of accomplishing RFL’s mission and
vision. 
Relate well to people gaining their trust and support
Travel up to 25%
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, Marketing, or a related
field.
EXPERIENCE
5 years of progressively responsible work experience.  Supervision of others working
locally and remotely.  Prefer experience in nonprofit organization.
