SHARE SUNDAY AT BETHANY, October 31, 2010
A new emphasis has begun at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids- Grow (your relationship with God), Connect (your relationship with each other), and Share (serve each other and the community).
Bethany members focused on Share- serving the community on Sunday, October 31.
Sunday morning attendees were asked to choose one of four activities to participate in. Canned food that had been collected during the month of October was transported to CrossRoads Mission in Cedar Rapids. In addition to food, clothes and cash were collected and delivered. 50 Bethany members ventured to the Mission to see it in person on SHARE Sunday. Bethany member, Pat Kane, is the Mission Director.
Over 75 people filled nearly 1,000 rice bags that will convert into 4,000 meals for Kids Against Hunger. These bags of rice, dehydrated vegetable, vitamins and minerals were sent to Haiti. Thrivent gave us $750 for this project.
Eighteen Bethany members visited 8 Bethany shut-ins.
22 people handed out 150 bars of “The World’s Finest Chocolate” along with an inspirational card near Hy-Vee on 1st Avenue in Cedar Rapids.
