What is the District Youth Committee? (cont. from the last issue)
As a reminder, last issue we let you know we exist. Now we want to tell you a bit more about us. We are 8 adults and 2 youth who meet 5 times a year and plan activities for the youth and youth leaders of Iowa District East. Our goal is to “provide opportunities and resources continually to the congregations of Iowa District East in the development of local programs.” We know some churches don’t have big youth groups and that youth need to know there are other Lutheran youth out there. We hope to provide opportunities for those youth, to build relationships, and to help the youth leaders to network with other youth leaders
Our latest event was held at Adventureland. It has been a fun activity for youth and their families. The schedule for other activities is listed below. We hope to see you there.
• Aug. 15-16th – Youth Leader Retreat: Check out the district website for details. Each church should have received the registration in the snail mail.
• Sept. 26-27th – Confirmation Retreat
• Oct. date TBA – 5th & 6th Grade Retreat
• Nov. 14-15th – Senior High Retreat: Notice it is a new month.
• Feb. date TBA - Junior High Retreat: This has always been a blast.
• March: Going to the outlying areas for youth leader sessions.
If you have any questions, please contact any of the District Youth Committee members. Current youth committee members are listed in the activities book that should be sent out soon. You should also be receiving the yearly posters that state the events.
