St. John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, Iowa hosted a winter retreat in Eldora’s Quaker Heights campground.  The retreat was for all ages and the theme was “LIFE: What a Trip!” Approximately 50 members of the congregation enjoyed Bible studies, horse-drawn carriage rides, singing around a campfire, games, crafts, skits, good food and fellowship. Keynote speaker for the activities was Principal Nathan Richter of Valley Lutheran High School in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  Among the activities, each member of the retreat received a “passport” that included “stamps” they received for attending the events, encouraging each other and being helpful in the kitchen!  Each hotel-like room was decorated with international themes and there were travel posters up for all to enjoy.  Topics presented were:  “Packing for Life,"  "Finding Your Way,” and “Going Somewhere With God.”  Friday night activities included a trip to the Kentucky Derby with Derby hats to watch the movie “Secretariat.”  It was a weekend for the whole family to enjoy.
